Abstract
An electret is described that includes a surface modified polymeric article having surface fluorination produced by fluorinating the polymeric article.
Claims32
An electret comprising a plasma surface modified nonwoven polymeric web comprising plasma surface fluorination, the electret, when tested according to the Initial DOP Penetration Test and the DOP Loading Test, exhibiting a DOP penetration of less than 20% for a DOP load from 0.05 grams to 0.2 grams.
A fluorinated electret comprising a plasma surface modified nonwoven web comprising polypropylene and plasma surface fluorination, the electret, when tested according to the Initial DOP Penetration Test and the DOP Loading Test, exhibiting a DOP penetration of less than 10% for a DOP load from 0.05 grams to 0.2 grams.
An electret comprising a surface modified nonwoven polymeric web comprising surface fluorination, the electret, when tested according to the Initial DOP Penetration Test and the DOP Loading Test, exhibiting a DOP penetration of less than 10% for a DOP load from 0.02 grams to 0.08 grams.
An electret comprising a plasma surface modified nonwoven polymeric web comprising plasma surface fluorination, the nonwoven web having been surface modified and surface fluorinated by exposing the polymeric web to an atmosphere that includes a plasma comprising fluorine containing species, the electret, when tested according to the Initial DOP Penetration Test and the DOP Loading Test, exhibiting a DOP penetration of less than 20% for a DOP load from 0.05 grams to 0.2 grams.
