Abstract
A rock excavating or cutting device including a disc cutter that is driven by drive means to rotate in an oscillating and nutating manner by driving the disc cutter about separate oscillating and nutating axes aa, bb which are angularly offset from one another and which intersect at a point ahead of the disc cutter.

A rock excavating or cutting device, including a disc cutter adapted to be driven by drive means to rotate in an oscillating and nutating manner by driving said disc cutter about separate oscillating and nutating axes which are angularly offset from one another and which intersect at a point ahead of said disc cutter.
A cutting device comprising:
- a disc cutter;
- an oscillating axis;
- a nutating axis, wherein the oscillating and nutating axis are angularly offset from each other such that the oscillating and nutating axis intersect at a point ahead of the disc cutter;
- and
- drive means for driving the disc cutter about both the oscillating axis and the nutating axis.
