Abstract
Modifications to RANTES can result in the modified polypeptide acting as a RANTES or MIP-1α antagonist. Such antagonists can be used in therapy to reduce inflammation. They are also useful in studying the properties of RANTES or of MIP-1α.
Claims12
A method of inhibiting or reducing inflammation mediated by RANTES and/or MIP-1α comprising administering a polypeptide consisting of the sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:4 to a patient.
A method of antagonizing the effects of RANTES and/or MIP-1α comprising administering a polypeptide consisting of the sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:4 to a patient.
A method of inhibiting or reducing inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis or atherosclerosis comprising administering a polypeptide consisting of the sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3 or SEQ ID NO:4 to a patient.
