Abstract
The present invention relates to fabric enhancement compositions which provide reduced fabric abrasion damage. The compositions of the present invention comprise from about 0.01% by weight, of a fabric enhancement system, a softening active, and the balance carriers and adjunct ingredients.
Claims19
A rinse-added fabric care composition comprising:
- A) from 0.01% to 20% by weight of said composition a fabric enhancement system comprising:
- i) one or more modified polyamine compounds, said modified polyamine compounds are selected from:
- a) (PA)w(T)x;
- b) (PA)w(L)z;
- c) [(PA)w(T)x]y[L]z;
- and
- d) mixtures thereof;
- wherein PA is a grafted or non-grafted, modified or unmodified polyamine backbone unit, T is an amide-forming polycarboxylic acid crosslinking unit, and L is a non-amide forming crosslinking unit;
- provided that for compounds of type (i) and (iii) the indices w and x have values such that the ratio of w to x is from 0.8:1 to 1.5:1;
- for compounds of type (ii) the indices w and z have values such that said modified polyamine compound comprises from about 0.05 to about 2 parts by weight of said L unit;
- for compounds of type (iii) the indices y and z have values such that said modified polyamine compound comprises from about 0.05 to about 2 parts by weight of said L unit;
- ii) a fabric abrasion polymer having a formula:
- [—P(D)m—]n
- wherein the value of the index n is selected to provide a molecular weight from 500 to 6,000,000, daltons and providing for a water solubility of least 100 ppm in water at 25° C.;
- the P units comprise units having the formula:
- —[CR2—CR2]— or —[(CR2)x—L]—
- wherein each R unit is independently hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl, L unit is independently selected from the group consisting of:
- (a)
- wherein R1 is hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl, and mixtures thereof
- (b) polysiloxane having the formula:
- wherein R2 is C1-C12 alkoxy, C6-C12 aryloxy, and mixtures thereof;
- the index p is from 1 to about 6;
- (c) units which have dye transfer inhibition activity having the formula:
- wherein R3 is hydrogen C1-C12 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl, and mixtures thereof;
- R4 is C1-C12 alkyl, C6-C12 aryl, and mixtures thereof, and
- (d) mixtures thereof;
- D units are incorporated as a pendant group to the P unit or are incorporated into the P unit and comprise:
- (a) an amide moiety partially hydrolyzed, crosslinked forms, and mixtures thereof;
- (b) a poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) moiety;
- (c) N-oxide units having the formula:
- wherein R1, R2, and R3 can be any hydrocarbyl unit;
- (d) co-polymers thereof;
- (e) mixtures thereof;
- and
- B) the balance carriers and adjunct ingredients.
