Abstract
A supported catalyst coated with gold particles is produced. This supported catalyst is used to oxidize unsaturated hydrocarbons in the gas phase with a hydrogen/oxygen mixture.

A process for oxidizing an unsaturated hydrocarbon comprising contacting an unsaturated hydrocarbon in the gas phase with a hydrogen/oxygen mixture in the presence of a calcined catalyst composed of titanium oxide hydrate coated with nanoscale gold particles.
