Abstract
A deodorizing composition comprising as an antimicrobial agent an effective amount of an extract of Indigofera tinctoria, or of an antimicrobially active fraction thereof.

A process for manufacturing a deodorizing and antibacterial composition, comprising extracting a natural material comprising Indigofera tinctoria with an extraction solvent to obtain an extract, wherein the extract, optionally admixed with a carrier, is a deodorizing and antibacterial composition.
A process for manufacturing a deodorizing and antibacterial composition, comprising extracting a natural material comprising a mixture of Lawsonia inermis and Indigofera tinctoria with an extraction solvent to obtain an extract, wherein the extract, optionally admixed with a carrier, is a deodorizing and antibacterial composition.
A method for deodorizing and preventing the formation of body odors comprising the steps of:
- applying a composition comprising an extract of Indigofera tinctoria to body parts affected by body odor for a period of time sufficient to inhibit the growth of microorganisms responsible for odor formation;
- and
- washing off the composition.
