Abstract
The present invention is a polyurethane dispersion that can be used to prepare polyurethane polymers which have moisture resistant properties. Moisture resistant polymers of the present invention are obtained by preparing the polymers from a polyurethane dispersion using a prepolymer formulation which includes an aliphatic mono, di or polyhydroxy compound which has an aliphatic side chain substituent which contains from 5 to 30 carbon atoms.
Claims14
A moisture-resistant textile comprising:
- a moisture-resistant polyurethane polymer affixed to a substrate,
- (a) said substrate being a textile;
- and
- (b) said moisture-resistant polyurethane polymer being prepared from an aqueous polyurethane dispersion comprising an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer and an external surfactant, said prepolymer being prepared from a polyisocyanate and a polyol mixture and said polyol mixture comprising at least one glycerol monoester, said glycerol monoester being present in a concentration of from 0.5 to 10 weight percent of said polymer.
