The present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions, methods and kits that provide for the early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. More particularly, the present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing uteroglobin for preventing or inhibiting metastasis of lung tumor cells and methods of using the same to prevent or inhibit metastasis of lung tumor cells. The present invention also relates to methods and kits for early diagnosis of metastatic lung cancer by assaying for uteroglobin and comparing the results against control cells. The present invention also relates to methods and kits for detection of metastatic lung cancer by assaying for the presence of an aberrant form of uteroglobin.
A method for treatment of lung cancer, which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of human uteroglobin to an animal.
A method for inhibiting metastasis of lung cancer cells, which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of human uteroglobin to an animal.
A method for inhibiting invasion of metastatic lung cancer cells, which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of human uteroglobin to an animal.
A pharmaceutical composition for treatment of lung cancer in an animal, which comprises a therapeutically effective amount of human uteroglobin and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A kit which comprises human uteroglobin protein of SEQ ID NO:1 in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a device for delivery of the uteroglobin protein of SEQ ID NO:1 to the lung, wherein the uteroglobin protein of SEQ ID NO:1, the carrier and the device are packaged in a container.
