An isolated polypeptide having haloperoxidase activity, selected from the group consisting of:
- a) a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence which has at least 95% homology with the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2;
- b) a polypeptide which is encoded by a nucleic acid sequence which hybridizes under medium stringency conditions with (i) the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1, (ii) a subsequence of (i) of at least 100 contiguous nucleotides, or (iii) a complementary strand of (i) or (ii);
- c) a fragment of (a) or (b) that has haloperoxidase activity;
- and
- d) a polypeptide of (a) or (b) having more than 50% residual activity after 15 minutes incubation at 70° C. and pH 7.
