Abstract
A novel class or family of TGF-β binding proteins is disclosed. Also disclosed are assays for selecting molecules for increasing bone mineralization and methods for utilizing such molecules.
Claims2
A transgenic mouse whose genome comprises a transgene comprising a nucleic acid molecule encoding a TGF-beta binding-protein wherein said nucleic acid molecule is operably linked to a promoter effective for the expression of said gene, and wherein said nucleic acid molecule is selected from the group consisting of an isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising SEQ ID Nos. 1, 5, 9, 11, 13 and 15, wherein said mouse exhibits decreased bone mineral density.
A transgenic mouse the germ and somatic cells of which comprise a transgene encoding an amino acid sequence of a BEER TGF-beta binding-protein wherein said mouse exhibits decreased bone mineral density.
