Abstract
A microelectronic programmable structure and methods of forming and programming the structure are disclosed. The programmable structure generally include an ion conductor and a plurality of electrodes. Electrical properties of the structure may be altered by applying a bias across the electrodes, and thus information may be stored using the structure.
Claims20
A microelectronic programmable structure comprising:
- an ion conductor formed of a solid solution containing a first conductive substance;
- a first electrode comprising a second conductive substance, wherein said first and said second conductive substances comprise the same material;
- a second electrode;
- and
- an insulating layer, wherein at least one of said first electrode and said second electrode is formed at least partially within the insulating layer.
2 more elements
A microelectronic programmable structure comprising:
- a substrate;
- a first electrode formed overlying the substrate;
- an ion conductor material overlying the first electrode;
- a second electrode overlying the ion conductor;
- and
- a barrier layer interposed between the ion conductor and at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode.
