Apparatus for accessing memory in a video system and method thereof

A method of accessing data to a memory block, the method comprising:

• in response to a row access request, storing a logically adjacent row of words (row) to the memory block by:
• causing a first word of the row to be accessed in a first memory location;
• causing a second word of the row to be accessed in a second memory location, wherein the second memory location is not adjacent to the first memory location;
• causing a third word of the row to be accessed in a third memory location;
• causing a fourth word of the row to be accessed in a fourth memory location, wherein the fourth memory location is adjacent to the first memory location;
• and
• in response to a column access request, storing a logically adjacent column of words (column) to the memory block by:
• causing a first word of the column to be accessed in a fifth memory location;
• causing a second word of the column to be accessed in a sixth memory location, wherein the second memory location is not adjacent to the first memory location;
• causing a third word of the column to be accessed in a seventh memory location;
• and
• causing a fourth word of the column to be accessed in a eighth memory location, wherein the fourth memory location is adjacent to the first memory location.
