Abstract
Disclosed are methods for treating or preventing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) using amide and related compounds. Pharmaceutical compositions containing amide compounds which are useful for the treatment or prophylaxis of IBD are also disclosed.
Claims21
A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prophylaxis of inflammatory bowel disease comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and an effective inflammatory bowel disease-treating amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of:
- N-tert-butyl 3-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopentyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclobutyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopropyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
A method for treating a patient suffering from or susceptible to an inflammatory bowel condition comprising administering to said patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and an effective inflammatory bowel condition-treating amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of:
- N-tert-butyl 3-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopentyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclobutyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopropyl 4-trifluorobenzamide,
- N-phenyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
A method for treating or preventing inflammatory bowel disease comprising:
- (a) identifying a patient suffering from or susceptible to an inflammatory bowel condition;
- and
- (b) administering to said patient a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and an effective inflammatory bowel condition-treating amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of:
- N-tert-butyl 3-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopentyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclobutyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopropyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-phenyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
A compound selected from the group consisting of:
- N-tert-butyl 3-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclopentyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide,
- N-cyclobutyl 4-trifluoromethylbenzamide, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
