A method of enhancing viability of an oocyte by contacting the oocyte with a Wnt-4 polypeptide.

A method of promoting maturation of an immature oocyte comprising contacting said oocyte with a substantially pure preparation of a Wnt polypeptide, wherein said Wnt polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.
A method of enhancing viability of an oocyte in vitro comprising contacting said oocyte with a Wnt polypeptide, wherein said Wnt polypeptide comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6.
