Abstract
A carbon film having an area of insulating material surrounded by an area of conducing material, and an area of material between the area of insulating material and the area of conducting material having a graded dielectric constant which varies from high to low from the area of insulating material to the area of conducting material.
Claims13
An emitter comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- an emitter material on the substrate, wherein the emitter material includes at least one emission area having a plurality of grains with interfaces in between, wherein an emission site is surrounded by non-emitting regions having a wide variation in conductivity from insulative to nearly ohmic.
An emitter comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- an emitter material on the substrate, wherein the emitter material includes at least one emission area having a plurality of grains with interfaces in between, wherein the emission area appears as a conglomerate of grains as shown on an AFM image on a scale of 1 micrometer×1 micrometer or larger.
An emitter comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- an emitter material on the substrate, wherein the emitter material includes at least one emission area having a plurality of grains with interfaces in between, wherein a cross-section of the emitter material in the emission area exhibits a varying emission current as a function of time.
