Abstract
In a method of manufacturing articles to be included in cans, a metal strip (1) is fed to an article forming unit (11), in which it is punched and stamped to form the articles. Before the article forming operations, the strip (1) is provided with laser engravings on one of its upper and lower surfaces, or on both these surfaces. The laser engravings form indicative marks on the articles. In addition to the article forming unit (11), an apparatus for manufacturing such articles has a metal strip supply (8), means (13) for feeding the strip (1) and a laser unit (9) for providing the indicative laser engraved marks on the articles.
Claims24
A device for guiding a strip of metal past a laser unit, said strip having two opposite longitudinal edges and an upper and a lower surface, said laser unit being arranged to provide said strip with laser engraved marks on at least one of said surfaces, said device comprising a longitudinal channel for receiving said strip, the channel being at least partly defined by guiding elements which are arranged for abutment against said opposite longitudinal edges of the strip, wherein at least one of the guiding elements is displaceable and continuously biased towards the channel.
A device for guiding a strip of metal past a laser unit, said strip having two opposite longitudinal edges and an upper and a lower surface, said laser unit being arranged to provide said strip with laser engraved marks on at least one of said surfaces, said device comprising a longitudinal channel for receiving said strip, the channel being at least partly defined by rotatable guiding elements having respective peripheral surfaces that engage said opposite longitudinal edges of the strip.
A device for guiding a strip of metal past a laser unit, said strip having two opposite longitudinal edges and an upper and a lower surface, said laser unit being arranged to provide said strip with laser engraved marks on at least one of said surfaces, said device comprising a longitudinal channel for receiving said strip, the channel being at least partly defined by guiding elements that are arranged for abutment against said opposite longitudinal edges of the strip, and first and second intake rollers which are arranged to receive the strip and abuttingly engage the upper and lower surfaces thereof, respectively, each of the first and second intake rollers including a spindle, wherein said spindles are provided with guiding shoulders having a distance therebetween that substantially corresponds to a distance between the longitudinal edges of the strip.
A device for guiding a strip of metal past a laser unit, said strip having two opposite longitudinal edges and an upper and a lower surface, said laser unit being arranged to provide said strip with laser engraved marks on at least one of said surfaces, said device comprising a longitudinal channel for receiving said strip, the channel being at least partly defined by guiding elements arranged for abutment against said opposite longitudinal edges of the strip, and a guiding cover and a guiding shoe that extend longitudinally along the channel and define upper and lower boundaries, respectively, of the channel, the guiding shoe and the guiding cover defining a distance therebetween that allows the strip to move substantially without interference in said channel.
A device for guiding a strip of metal past a laser unit, said strip having two opposite longitudinal edges and an upper and a lower surface, said laser unit being arranged to provide said strip with laser engraved marks on at least one of said surfaces, said device comprising a longitudinal channel for receiving said strip, the channel being at least partly defined by at least one pair of guiding elements that are arranged for abutment against said opposite longitudinal edges of the strip, and a guiding cover that extends longitudinally along the channel and defines an upper boundary of the channel, the guiding cover including an opening positioned between the at least one pair of guiding elements so that the upper surface of the strip is accessible by the laser unit to provide said laser engraved marks.
A device for guiding a strip of metal past a laser unit, said strip having two opposite longitudinal edges and an upper and a lower surface, said laser unit being arranged to provide said strip with laser engraved marks on at least one of said surfaces, said device comprising a longitudinal channel for receiving said strip, the channel being at least partly defined by guiding elements which are arranged for abutment against said opposite longitudinal edges of the strip, and a spring-biased pusher arrangement for urging at least one of the guiding elements towards a center of the channel.
