Abstract
Compositions and methods for treatment of impotence or erectile dysfunction employ prostaglandins that are selective EP2 or EP4 prostanoid receptor agonists. The compositions can be formulated for intracavernous injection, or for transurethral or transdermal application.

A method of treating impotence or erectile dysfunction with reduced pain as compared with a method of treating impotence or erectile dysfunction using PGE1 or PGE2, the method comprising administering to a human a therapeutically effective and physiologically acceptable amount of 18, 19, or 20-OH-PGE2, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
A method of treating impotence or erectile dysfunction with reduced pain as compared with a metheod of treating impotence or erectile dysfunction using PGE1 or PGE2, the method comprising administering to human a composition comprising a therapeutically effective and physiologically acceptable amount of an active agent adapted to treat erectile dysfunction or impotence with reduced pain as compared with administration of PGE1 or PGE2, wherein the active agent consists essentially of 18, 19, or 20-OH-PGE2, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
