Abstract
This invention provides polypeptides having anti-angiogenic activity and nucleic acids that encode these polypeptides. The anti-angiogenic polypeptides include at least kringles 1-3 of plasminogen. The invention also provides methods of using the polypeptides and nucleic acids for inhibiting angiogenesis and other conditions characterized by undesirable endothelial cell proliferation.
Claims5
An isolated nucleic acid comprising an expression cassette that comprises a polynucleotide sequence encoding a signal polypeptide operably linked to a polynucleotide sequence, wherein the polynucleotide sequence is as shown in SEQ ID NO:1.
An isolated nucleic acid comprising an expression cassette that comprises a polynucleotide sequence encoding an IgK signal polypeptide operably linked to a polynucleotide sequence encoding an anti-angiogenic polypeptide which comprises kringles 1-3 of plasminogen.
An isolated nucleic acid comprising an expression cassette that comprises a promoter and a polynucleotide sequence encoding a signal polypeptide operably linked to a polynucleotide sequence encoding an anti-angiogenic polypeptide as shown in SEQ ID NO:2.
An endothelial cell comprising recombinant expression cassette comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding an IgK signal polypeptide operably linked to a polynucleotide sequence encoding an anti-angiogenic polypeptide which comprises an amino acid sequence substantially identical to kringles 1-3 of native plasminogen.
An endothelial cell comprising recombinant expression cassette comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding a signal polypeptide operably linked to a polynucleotide sequence encoding an anti-angiogenic polypeptide wherein the anti-angiogenic polypeptide has an amino acid sequence as shown in SEQ ID NO:2.
