Abstract
Crystalline olefin polymers in the form of granules or nonextruded particles having regular geometric form, containing one of more of the following stabilizers: a) from 0.01 to 0.5% by weight of one or more organic phosphites or phosphonites or mixtures thereof; or b) from 0.005 to 0.5% by weight of one or more HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer), or c) mixtures of (a) and (b), and optionally one or more phenolic antioxidants at a concentration not higher than 0.2% by weight. The fibers obtained from said polyolefins have high thermoweldability and good resistance to yellowing and aging.
Claims12
A thermoweldable fiber having a thermowelding strength of 2 to 4.5 N and prepared from a polyolefin composition consisting essentially of a polyolefin containing
- a) from 0.01 to 0.025% by weight of one or more organic phosphites or phosphonites or mixtures thereof;
- b) mixtures of (a) and from 0.01 to 0.05% by weight of one or more organic phosphites or phosphonites or mixtures thereof;
- and optionally one or more phenolic antioxidants in a concentration not greater than 0.02% by weight, and wherein said HALS is added to said polyolefin after polymerization has been completed.
