Accordion-type plant cover with attached skirt and methods

A method of forming a plant cover, comprising the steps of:

• providing a pot having an outer peripheral surface;
• providing a flower pot cover having an upper end, a lower end, an outer peripheral surface, an inner peripheral surface and an inner retaining space;
• providing a skirt connected to the upper end of the flower pot cover;
• providing a base having an upper end, a lower end, an outer peripheral surface and an inner peripheral surface, the base having a plurality of expansion elements extending thereabout wherein each expansion element comprises one or more areas of excess material shaped in the form of a pleat which extends generally from the lower end to near the upper end of the base;
• disposing the pot into the inner retaining space of the flower pot cover;
• disposing the base over the outer peripheral surface of the flower pot cover such that the inner peripheral surface of the base is adjacent to and in contacting engagement with the outer peripheral surface of the flower pot cover, the base being disposed generally between the upper end and the lower end of the flower pot cover, wherein the expansion elements permit the base to expand and contract to both closely encompass and follow the contours of the flower pot cover disposed about the pot, thereby forming the plant cover;
• and
• positioning the skirt such that the skirt extends a distance from the upper end of the flower pot cover.

A method of forming a plant cover, comprising the steps of:

• providing a pot having an outer peripheral surface;
• providing a flower pot cover having an upper end, a lower end, an outer peripheral surface, an inner peripheral surface and an inner retaining space, the flower pot cover having a skirt integrally connected to the upper end of the flower pot cover;
• providing a base having an upper end, a lower end, an outer peripheral surface and an inner peripheral surface, the base having a plurality of expansion elements extending thereabout wherein each expansion element comprises one or more areas of excess material shaped in the form of a pleat which extends generally from the. lower end to near the upper end of the base;
• disposing the pot into the inner retaining space of the flower pot cover;
• disposing the base over the outer peripheral surface of the flower pot cover such that the inner peripheral surface of the base is adjacent to and in contacting engagement with the outer peripheral surface of the flower pot cover, the base being disposed generally between the upper end and the lower end of the flower pot cover, wherein the expansion elements permit the base to expand and contract to both closely encompass and follow the contours of the flower pot cover disposed about the pot, thereby forming the plant cover;
• and
• positioning the skirt of the flower pot cover such that the skirt extends a distance from the upper end of the flower pot cover.
