Abstract
A radio back-end circuit that includes an integrator and a first variable voltage translator having a signal input coupled to the output of the integrator circuit. Also included is a first variable low pass filter, a second variable voltage translator, and a variable attenuator. These components of the radio back-end circuit are communicatively coupled such that noise is reduced in radio communications and signal and reception range control is improved in certain situations.
Claims13
A radio back-end circuit, comprising:
- a pulse modified integrator circuit having a first input for receiving an RSSI signal and an output;
- a first variable voltage translator having a signal input coupled to the output of the pulse modified integrator circuit, a control input for receiving a first transfer function setting signal, and an output;
- a first variable low pass filter having a signal input for receiving a L−R input signal, a control input coupled to the output of the first variable voltage translation circuit, and an output;
- a second variable voltage translator having a signal input coupled to the output of the pulse modified integrator circuit, a control input for receiving a second transfer function setting signal, and an output;
- and
- a variable attenuator having a signal input coupled to the output of the first variable low pass filter, a control input coupled to the output of the second variable voltage translator, and an output for providing an L−R output signal.
An AM/FM radio back-end circuit, comprising:
- a common pulse derived integration circuit for receiving an FM RSSI signal when the radio back-end circuit is processing an FM signal and receiving an AM RSSI signal when the radio back-end is processing an AM signal;
- a voltage translator having an input coupled to the integration circuit having an output for providing noise reduction information based on the output of the integration circuit when the radio back-end is processing an Am signal and when the radio back-end is processing an FM signal;
- and
- a variable low pass filter having a control input coupled to the output of voltage translator and a signal input for receiving one of an I signal and a Q signal when the radio is processing the AM signal and a stereo information signal containing L and R information when the radio is processing an FM signal.
A radio back-end circuit, comprising:
- a bus interface circuit for receiving a first transfer function signal external to the radio back-end circuit;
- a register, coupled to the bus interface, for storing the first transfer function signal;
- an integrator circuit having a first input for receiving an RSSI signal and an output;
- a first variable voltage translator having a signal input coupled to the output of the integrator circuit, a control input coupled to the register for receiving a first transfer function setting signal, and an output;
- and
- a first variable low pass filter having a control input coupled to the output of the first voltage translation circuit.
