Abstract
A catalyst for use in the production of vinyl acetate which comprises (1) a catalyst support, (2) palladium, (3) an acid, (4) at least one acetic acid catalyst promoter and (5) at least one vinyl acetate promoter and/or co-promoter. A process for the production of vinyl acetate from ethylene and an oxygen-containing gas using the catalyst.

A process for the production of vinyl acetate which comprises reacting ethylene with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst comprising (1) a catalyst support, (2) palladium, (3) an acid, (4) at least one acetic acid catalyst promoter, and (5) metallic gold as vinyl acetate promoter.
A process for the production of vinyl acetate which comprises reacting ethylene with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst which comprises (1) a catalyst support, (2) palladium, (3) an acid, (4) at least one acetic acid catalyst promoter selected from the group consisting of selenium, titanium, tellurium and vanadium-containing compounds, and (5) metallic gold as vinyl acetate promoter.
A process for the production of vinyl acetate which comprises reacting ethylene with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst which comprises (1) a catalyst support, (2) palladium, (3) an acid, (4) at least one acetic acid catalyst promoter selected from the group consisting of selenium, titanium, tellurium and vanadium-containing compounds, (5) metallic gold as vinyl acetate promoter and (6) at least one vinyl acetate co-promoter.
