Abstract
The invention relates to peptides and peptidomimetics which inhibit assembly of human type I collagen. Methods of identifying such peptides and peptidomimetics are also included in the invention.

All isolated type I collagen assembly-inhibiting peptide consisting of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NOs:
- 2, 4-11, and 13-23.
A isolated peptide, wherein said isolated peptide comprises an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:
