Abstract
The (R)-enantiomer of 4-[[(cyanoimino)[(1,2,2-trimethylpropyl)amino]methyl]amino]benzonitrile as well as the corresponding (S)-enantiomer are useful for promoting hair growth such as in male pattern baldness.

The (R)-enantiomer of 4-[[(cyanoimino)[(1,2,2-trimethylpropyl)amino]methyl]amino]benzonitrile or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially separated from its corresponding S-enantiomer.
A pharmaceutical composition for promoting hair growth comprising the (R)-enantiomer of 4-[[(cyanomino)[(1,2,2-trimethylpropyl)amino]methyl]amino]benzonitrile or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially separated from its corresponding S-enantiomer, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor, in the form of a topical composition.
