Abstract
A retractable screen is located within a frame portion of a window. The screen accumulates on and pays out from a spring biased roller located in said frame portion. The screen is fully retractable and for the most part hidden for viewing, egress or cleaning purposes, and is available as desired when moved to the operable position. The screening material utilized includes “T” shaped members for easy installation in compatible grooves provided with the handle and the roller.
Claims8
A roll-out screen assembly for installation within framing sections including one of a jamb, sill or header in a closure assembly, the roll-out screen assembly comprising a cassette including a screen, a roller having two ends, and a handle portion having two ends, said screen being installed on the roller disposed within the cassette, said roller and said handle portion each carrying a slot extending from end to end thereof, said cassette may be readily inserted within a hollow of one of said framing sections sized to receive said cassette, said screen having a detent formed on each end thereof, each detent having a head portion, disposed therewith having a leading edge, which engages upon which the screen is accumulated, and the slot of said handle portion, wherein said screen is installed in said slot of the roller and the slot of said handle portion by laterally sliding the leading edge of said head of said detent from end to end of said slots to secure said screen, said screen being cut to size as desired to fit between said roller and said handle portion of the roll-out screen assembly.
A closure assembly comprising a retractable screen disposed within a framing portion of the assembly, said framing portion providing a pocket within which the screen is contained, said pocket being bound by three sides of said framing portion thereby forming said pocket, said pocket being closed by a separate cover, said retractable screen being mounted on said cover and being positioned in said pocket when the cover closing the pocket is installed by clipping a detent provided by said cover in a channel provided with one of the sides of said framing portion providing the pocket, the screen accumulating on and paying out from a spring biased roll disposed within said pocket, the screen being retractable for egress or cleaning purposes, and available as desired.
A retractable screen assembly for a closure assembly, said closure assembly including framing sections, and one of said framing sections providing a pocket within which said screen assembly is retained,
- said screen assembly comprising a cassette carrying a retractable screen, said cassette being engageable with the interior of a cover utilized for closing the pocket of the closure assembly, said retractable screen including a handle portion affixed thereto including a first latching detent, for engagement with a second latching detent when the screen is in a fully open position, said screen assembly also including a hollow tube to which said screen is anchored via a detent on the tube and via a detent formed on one end of said screen, said screen including another detent formed on the other end thereof for engaging with a detent of the handle portion of said assembly, wherein said cassette may be installed within the pocket disposed within the framing portions of the closure assembly and fixed in position once the cover covering the pocket is installed.
A roll out screen assembly comprising a roller portion having a slot, a handle portion having a slot and a section of screen having two ends, each end having a detent formed therewith and for engaging the slot of the roller portion and the slot of the handle portion, each detent having a head portion disposed therewith having a leading edge which engages the slot of the roller portion and the slot of the handle portion, wherein said screen is installed in said slot of the roller and the slot of said handle portion by laterally sliding the leading edge of said head of said detent from end to end of said slots to secure said screen.
