Abstract
Composition in the form of an aqueous solution, useful for disinfecting hard surfaces comprises: a) from 0.0005% to 20% by weight of peracetic acid, b) from 0.001% to 45% by weight of acetic acid, c) from 0.001% to 35% by weight of hydrogen peroxide, d) from 0.0001% to 2% by weight of at least one compound of formula (I) (R1)(R2)(R3)N→O (I) e) if desired, up to 2.5% by weight of at least one nonionic surfactant, and wherein f) the weight ratio between the compound of formula (I) and the peracetic acid is less than or equal to 1, and in that g) the weight ratio between the nonionic surfactant and the peracetic acid is less than or equal to 0.2.
Claims12
A composition for disinfecting medico-surgical equipment, comprising:
- a) from 0.0005% to 5% by weight of peracetic acid,
- b) from 0.01% to 3% by weight of acetic acid,
- c) from 0.3% to 10% by weight of hydrogen peroxide,
- d) from 0.0001% to 1% by weight of at least one compound of formula (I)
- (R1)(R2)(R3)N→O (I)
- in which, either R1 represents a linear or branched, cyclic or acyclic radical containing from 1 to 40 carbon atoms and optionally from 1 to 6 hetero atoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, sulphur and nitrogen, and R2 and R3, which may be identical or different, represent a linear or branched alkyl radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a linear or branched hydroxyalkyl radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms;
- or R1 and R2 represent, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, a saturated or unsaturated, substituted or unsubstituted heterocycle containing from 5 to 8 carbon atoms and from 1 to 4 hetero atoms selected from the group consisting of oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur, and R3 represents a linear or branched alkyl radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a linear or branched hydroxyalkyl radical containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms,
- e) optionally from 0.0001% to 0.2% by weight of at least one non-ionic surfactant,
- and where in
- f) the weight ratio between the compound of formula (I) and the peracetic acid is less than or equal to 1,
- g) the weight ratio between the non-ionic surfactant and the peracetic acid is less than or equal to 0.2, and
- h) the weight ratio of peracetic acid+acetic acid to hydrogen peroxide is less than 1,
- provided that the non-ionic surfactant which is optionally comprised within said composition is not a compound having the formula (III)
- (R9) (R10)CH—(O—CH2—CH2)n—OH (III)
- in which R9 and R10 are each either hydrogen or linear, or branched alkyl wherein R9 plus R10 has a total of from 7 to 22 carbon atoms, and n is selected in the range of 1 to 15, wherein the number ratio of carbon atoms in R9 plus R10:
- n is greater than or equal to 3:1, and provided that the non-ionic surfactant is not a dinonyl phenolethoxylate of EO from 4 to 8.
