Abstract
This invention concerns a method of increasing retention and drainage in a papermaking furnish comprising adding to the furnish an effective amount of a structurally rigid nonionic or anionic polymer.
Claims9
A method of increasing retention and drainage in a papermaking furnish comprising adding to the furnish an effective amount of a structurally rigid anionic condensation polymer of one or more aryldiamines and one or more cyclic dicarboxylates where at least one of the aryldiamines and cyclic dicarboxylates contains an anionic substitutent.
A paper product prepared by
- i) adding to a papermaking furnish an effective amount of a structurally rigid anionic condensation polymer of one or more aryldiamines and one or more cyclic dicarboxylates where at least one of the aryldiamines and cyclic dicarboxylates contains an anionic substitutent;
- and
- ii) draining the furnish to form a sheet.
