Abstract
A vehicle lamp assembly includes a housing and an LED lamp carried in the housing. A signal mirror, includes a mirror; and an LED lamp. The LED lamp includes a heat extraction member.
Claims102
A signal mirror, comprising:
- a mirror;
- and
- a high power LED lamp positioned proximate said mirror, the high power LED lamp including a heat extraction member, at least one emitter carried on the heat extraction member, and two or more electrical leads having a thermal resistance higher than the heat extraction member electrically coupled to the emitter, and wherein the LED lamp is positioned adjacent the mirror to produce a visible signal.
A mirror assembly, comprising:
- a mirror disposed in a housing;
- a high power LED, the high power LED positioned adjacent the mirror to generate a visible signal, wherein the LED is capable of producing light having an intensity of 12 candelas from a single LED lamp.
A mirror assembly, comprising:
- a housing;
- a mirror disposed in the housing;
- and
- a high power LED lamp, the high power LED lamp disposed in the housing, wherein the LED lamp is capable of operating continuously at greater than approximately 100 mW.
A mirror assembly comprising:
- a housing;
- a mirror positioned in the housing;
- and
- a high power LED positioned in the housing to transmit light out of the mirror assembly, the high power LED having an emitter and a heat extraction member onto which the emitter is mounted.
A mirror assembly, comprising:
- a housing;
- a mirror positioned in the housing, the mirror including a surface that at least a portion of which is partially reflective;
- a high power LED, the high power LED including a heat extraction member;
- and
- a heat sink carried on the mirror, the heat extraction member positioned against the heat sink such that the LED emits radiation through the mirror.
A signal mirror, comprising:
- two or more lamps each having a peak intensity optical axis at which light is projected, at least one of the lamps being a LED lamp;
- and
- at least one support, the two or more lamps mounted to the at least one support such that the axis of peak intensity of a first one of the lamps is at an angle greater than 50 with respect to the axis of peak intensity of a second one of the lamps.
A vehicle lamp assembly, comprising:
- a housing;
- an LED lamp carried in the housing, the LED lamp including a heat extraction member;
- and
- a control circuit, the control circuit coupled to the LED lamp and providing regulated energizing power thereto.
A method of assembling a component assembly including a circuit board, a heat sink and an LED lamp including an emitter, a heat extraction member on which the emitter is mounted, and electrical leads electrically coupled to the emitter, said method comprising the steps of:
- mounting the LED lamp such that the heat extraction member is positioned against said heat sink;
- and
- connecting the electrical leads to a circuit board.
