Polymorphic, amorphous and hydrated forms of the title compound having the following structure: are disclosed. The compound is a potent and selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor.

A polymorph of the compound of formula A:
- selected from the groups consisting of:
- Form III and Form IV.
A sesquihydrate of the compound of formula A:
- having at least one x-ray powder diffraction pattern peak position, Cu K alpha, at about 7.1, 9.7, 11.8, 15.5, 20.1, 22.7 or 24.1 degrees 2-theta, and further containing about 1.5 mol of water per mol of the compound of formula A.
A hemihydrate of the compound of formula A:
- containing about 0.5 mol water per mol of the compound of formula A.
An amorphous form of the compound of formula A:
- obtained by cooling a molten sample of a crystalline form of the compound of formula A.
