Abstract
An orally or parenterally administrable agent for anti-osteoporosis, comprising trehalose as an effective ingredient and optionally another ingredients, that exerts a satisfactory therapeutic/prophylactic effect on osteoporosis with lesser side effects.

A method for treating and/or preventing osteoporosis by administering an agent to humans and animals in need thereof, said agent comprising trehalose in an amount sufficient therefor as an effective ingredient.
A method for inhibiting the differentiation of osteoclasts by administering an agent to humans and animals in need thereof, said agent comprising trehalose in an amount sufficient therefor as an effective ingredient.
