Abstract
In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a material for an element of a power transmission-absorption assembly and the method of making such material is disclosed. The material has a pre-selected channel configuration to permit flow of a cooling medium thereacross or therethrough.

A friction element comprising:
- a friction member;
- a plurality of warp yarns;
- a plurality of fill yarns;
- said plurality of warp yarns and said plurality of fill yarns being woven to define a woven pattern for facilitating transferring heat away from said friction member;
- and
- an adhesive for adhering said woven pattern to said friction member.
