Abstract
Bleaching compositions are disclosed which comprise a fabric protective system capable of esterifying the hydroxyl groups of a fabric and a bleach. A method of treating fabrics with such a composition is also disclosed.
Claims32
A liquid peroxygen bleaching composition for the bleaching of fabrics, which comprises from 0.01% to 20%, by weight of said composition, of a peroxygen bleach, or a mixture thereof, and a fabric protective system comprising a boron salt and a catalyst for the esterification of the hydroxyl groups of a fabric by said boron salt.
A liquid bleaching composition for the bleaching of fabrics, which comprises from 0.01% to 20%, by weight of said composition, of a bleach selected from the group consisting of alkali metal dichloroisocyanurate. alkali metal hypohalite, and mixtures thereof, and a fabric protective system comprising a boron salt and a catalyst for the esterification of the hydroxyl groups of a fabric by said boron salt.
