Abstract
Tin alkoxide compounds are provided with accessible electrons. The compounds are a polymeric tin alkoxide, [Sn(OCH2C(CH3)3)2]n, and the hydrolysis products Sn6O4(OCH2C(CH3)3)4 and Sn5O2(OCH2C(CH3)3)6. The hydrolysis products are formed by hydrolyzing the [Sn(OCH2C(CH3)3)2]n in a solvent with controlled amounts of water, between 0.1 and 2 moles of water per mole of the polymeric tin alkoxide.
Claims20
The polymer Sn(OCH2C(CH3)3)2.
The hydrolysis compound Sn5(O)2(OCH2C(CH3)3)6.
The hydrolysis compound Sn6(O)4(OCH2C(CH3)3)4.
A method of making Sn(OCH2C(CH3)3)2 comprising dissolving Sn(N(CH3)2)2)2 in a solvent and reacting with HOCH2C(CH3)3.
A method of making the hydrolysis products Sn6(O)4(OCH2C(CH3)3)4 and Sn5(O)2(OCH2C(CH3)3)6 comprising dissolving Sn(OCH2C(CH3)3)2 in a non-reative organic solvent to form a solution and adding water to said solution.
A method of making the hydrolysis products Sn6(O)4(OCH2C(CH3)3)4 and Sn5(O)2(OCH2C(CH3)3)6 comprising pre-dissolving water into a non-reactive organic solvent and reacting with Sn(OCH2C(CH3)3)2.
