Abstract
There is disclosed an information processing apparatus, such as a printer, capable of selectively using plural control programs by utilizing an external memory, such as a program cartridge, containing additional programs. When a switching of control program is requested for example by a switch, the start address of the requested program is indirectly obtained by referring to a fixed address of the memory cartridge containing the requested program.

A print control apparatus for controlling a printing unit to print an image based on print information, said print control apparatus comprising:
- discrimination means for discriminating a transport status of a recording medium on which the image is recorded;
- and
- control means for controlling program switching such that a switching from a first control program to a second control program is inhibited when the recording medium is being transported, even if a program switching request is provided.
A method, of a print control apparatus, for controlling a printing unit to print an image based on print information, said method comprising the steps of:
- discriminating a transport status of a recording medium on which the image is recorded;
- and
- controlling program switching such that a switching from a first control program to a second control program is inhibited when the recording medium is being transported, even if a program switching request is provided.
A computer readable storage medium that stores a program for implementing, by a computer, a method of a print control apparatus for controlling a printing unit to print an image based on print information, the program comprising:
- code for a discrimination function of discriminating a transport status of a recording medium on which the image is recorded;
- and
- code for a controlling function of controlling program switching such that a switching from a first control program to a second control program is inhibited when the recording medium is being transported, even if a program switching request is provided.
