This invention relates to a process for reactivating a dehydrocyclodimerization catalyst. Dehydrocyclodimerization catalysts which contain an aluminum phosphate binder can be deactivated when they are exposed to hydrogen at temperatures above 500° C. The instant process restores substantially all of the catalyst's lost activity. The process involves treating the catalyst with a fluid comprising water and drying the catalyst. The process is employed particularly advantageously in combination with coke removal for reactivating catalysts that contain coke deposits and that have also been hydrogen deactivated. This invention also relates to a method of producing a dehydrocyclodimerization catalyst that is resistant to hydrogen deactivation.
A process for reactivating a dehydrocyclodimerization catalyst, the catalyst comprising a phosphorus component and the catalyst having been deactivated by exposure to hydrogen at a temperature above 500° C., the process comprising contacting the catalyst with a fluid comprising water wherein the concentration in the fluid of a weakly acidic ammonium salt or an acid is less than 0.01 moles/liter to produce a treated catalyst and drying the treated catalyst thereby producing a reactivated catalyst.
A method of reactivating catalyst particles in a process for removing coke from and for restoring the activity of hydrogen-deactivated catalyst particles, the catalyst particles comprising a phosphorus component and having coke deposited thereon and having been deactivated by exposure to hydrogen at a temperature above 500° C., the method comprising the steps of:
A process for reactivating a dehydrocyclodimerization catalyst comprising a zeolite having a molar ratio of silicon per aluminum greater than about 10 and a pore diameter of about 5-6 Angstroms, an aluminum phosphate binder, and gallium, the catalyst having been deactivated by exposure to hydrogen at a temperature above 500° C., the process comprising contacting the catalyst with an aqueous dilute acid solutior, where the acid is selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric, acetic, nitric, and sulfuric acid and is present in the solution in a concentration of less than 0.01 moles/liter, at a temperature of from about 50° C. to about 100° C. for a time of about 1 to about 48 hours to produce a treated catalyst and then heating the treated catalyst at a temperature of about 500° C. to about 700° C. for a time of about 1 to about 15 hours, thereby providing a reactivated catalyst.
