Abstract
The invention provides a polymer gel electrolyte or a binder for use in lithium secondary batteries which comprises a copolymer having in the molecule both a segmented polymer chain (a) having the function of retaining membrane strength and a segmented polymer chain (b) having the function of holding a nonaqueous electrolyte. Also provided is a lithium secondary battery containing the electrolyte.
Claims4
A polymer gel electrolyte for use in lithium secondary batteries comprising a copolymer having both a first segmented polymer chain (a) having the function of retaining membrane strength and a second segmented polymer chain (b) having the function of holding a nonaqueous electrolyte, wherein the first segmented polymer chain (a) and the second segmented polymer chain (b) are different and are each a homopolymer or copolymer of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl fluoride, vinylidene fluoride, trifluoroethylene, tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene, vinyl ether perfluoride, 2,3,3,4,4,5,5-heptafluoro-1-pentene and the monomers further having a functional group on a side chain, or a copolymer of at least one monomer selected from the monomer group, and ethylene and/or propylene.
A binder for use in lithium secondary batteries which comprises a copolymer having in the molecule both a first segmented polymer chain (a) having the function of retaining membrane strength and a second segmented polymer chain (b) having the function of holding a nonaqueous electrolyte, wherein the first segmented polymer chain (a) and the second segmented polymer chain (b) are different and are each a homopolymer or copolymer of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl fluoride, vinylidene fluoride, trifluoroethylene, tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene, vinyl ether perfluoride, 2,3,3,4,4,5,5-heptafluoro-1-pentene and the monomers further having a functional group on a side chain, or a copolymer of at least one monomer selected from the monomer group, and ethylene and/or propylene.
