Abstract
Novel duct tapes comprising a water-impermeable sheet backing carrying, in order, a cloth material and an adhesive layer, wherein the backing is a coextruded laminate which, in the preferred case, incorporates a release agent in the lamina on the surface opposite the adhesive.

An adhesive tape comprising a backing material carrying on one surface thereof, in order, a reinforcing cloth material tearable in the cross direction and an adhesive layer, wherein the backing is a coextruded laminate of the following layers in the order recited:
- a first layer of low density polyethylene (LDPE), a layer of a blend of LDPE and high density polyethylene(HDPE), a pigmented layer of LDPE, a layer of a blend of LDPE and HDPE and a second layer of LDPE.
