Abstract
The invention relates to a xylanase originating from a Bacillus strain and particularly to Bacillus sp. strain 720/1 (LMG P-14798) and to xylanase obtained from derivatives and mutants of this strain. The xylanase of the invention is active over a wide range of acid and basic pH. This invention also relates to uses of the xylanases and enzyme compositions comprising the xylanases.
Claims13
A composition comprising an isolated xylanase obtained from Bacillus sp. strain 720/1 having collection culture number LMG P-14798.
A method for the production of a xylanase, said method comprising:
- a) culturing under appropriate nutrient and growth conditions Bacillus sp. strain 720/1 having collection culture number LMG P-14798 whereby said Bacillus produces a single polypeptide xylanase having a molecular weight of approximately between 9.5 and 9.7;
- and b) harvesting the xylanase.
