Abstract
A susceptor-impregnated thermoplastic foam is molded by heating the susceptor-impregnated thermoplastic foam, preferably by induction; imprinting an object against the foam; and allowing the foam to cool into a hardened form conformed to the object.
Claims26
A method for molding an article, comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing a thermo-malleable material;
- (b) impregnating said material with susceptor capable of converting energy into heat;
- (c) heating said material;
- (d) bringing an object into contact with said heated material, thereby allowing said material to substantially conform to the contours of said object;
- and
- (e) allowing said heated material to cool.

A method for molding a footbed, comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing a footbed including a thermo-malleable material;
- (b) impregnating said material with susceptor capable of converting energy into heat;
- (c) heating said material;
- (d) bringing a foot into contact with said heated material, thereby allowing said material to substantially conform to the contours of the foot;
- and
- (e) allowing said heated material to cool.
