Abstract
Clips having pseudoelastic properties at body temperature are used to cause hemostatis of blood vessels located along the gastrointestinal tract. Methods for causing the hemostasis of blood vessels and ulcer beds using the clips of the present invention are also disclosed.
Claims6
An arrangement for achieving hemostasis of ulcer beds comprising:
- two pairs of gastrointestinal clips, the clips exhibiting pseudoelastic behavior at body temperature, wherein the clips comprise nitinol characterized by air As temperatures less than body temperature and an Md temperature greater than body temperature, and wherein the clips have a substantially circular configuration when the nitinol is in a substantially austenitic state and whereby the gastrointestinal clips have sufficient strength to cause the hemostasis of an ulcer bed and;
- a delivery device capable of housing at least two pairs of gastrointestinal clips.
