Abstract
An inbred maize line, designated PH2EJ, the plants and seeds of inbred maize line PH2EJ, methods for producing a maize plant, either inbred or hybrid, produced by crossing the inbred maize line PH2EJ with itself or with another maize plant, and hybrid maize seeds and plants produced by crossing the inbred line PH2EJ with another maize line or plant and to methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic maize plants produced by that method. This invention also relates to inbred maize lines derived from inbred maize line PH2EJ, to methods for producing other inbred maize lines derived from inbred maize line PH2EJ and to the inbred maize lines derived by the use of those methods.
Claims49
Seed of maize inbred line designated PH2EJ, representative seed of said a line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No PTA-3566.
A maize plant, or parts thereof, having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of inbred line PH2EJ, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC accession No PTA-3566.
A process for producing inbred PH2EJ, representative seed of which have been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-3566, comprising:
- (a) planting a collection of seed comprising seed of a hybrid, one of whose parents is inbred PH2EJ said collection also comprising seed of said inbred;
- (b) growing plants from said collection of seed;
- (c) identifying inbred parent plants;
- (d) selecting said inbred parent plant;
- (e) controlling pollination through selfing, which preserves the homozygosity of said inbred parent plant;
- and
- (f) collecting morphological and/or physiological data so that said inbred parent may be identified as inbred PH2EJ.
A method for producing a PH2EJ-derived maize plant, comprising:
- (a) crossing inbred maize line PH2EJ, representative seed of said line having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-3566, with a second maize plant to yield progeny maize seed;
- (b) growing said progeny maize seed, under plant growth conditions, to yield said PH2EJ-derived maize plant.
