Abstract
Modulating agents comprising cyclic peptides, and compositions comprising such modulating agents are provided. The cyclic peptides comprise a cadherin cell adhesion recognition sequence HAV. Methods for using such peptides and compositions for modulating and/or directing neurite outgrowth in a variety of contexts are also provided.
Claims25
A method for treating spinal cord injuries in a mammal, comprising contacting a neuron at a target site in said mammal by implanting at said site a cell adhesion modulating agent that enhances neurite outgrowth, wherein the modulating agent comprises the sequence His-Ala-Val within a cyclic peptide in which nonadjacent amino acid residues are covalently linked to form a 4-15 amino acid residue peptide ring.
