An electromagnetic fuel injection apparatus comprising an electromagnetic fuel injector, a drive circuit for driving said electromagnetic fuel injector and a control circuit for sending a control signal to said drive circuit, said electromagnetic fuel injector having a fuel injection orifice, a seat valve provided upstream of said fuel injection orifice, a valve body for performing an opening and closing of a fuel passage between said valve seat and said valve body, and at least two coils for generating a drive force of said valve body, including a first coil having a large time rate of change of magnetomotive force, which is a product of a winding number and a current value, and a second coil having a smaller time rate of change of magnetomotive force than that of said first coil, wherein said drive circuit includes a first switching means for performing an on and off application of a first voltage to said first coil and a second switching means for performing an on and off application of a second voltage, which is lower than said first voltage, to said second coil, and wherein, at a valve opening operation initial stage of said valve body, said first voltage is applied to said first coil and said second voltage is applied to said second coil to generate a magnetic flux having the same direction, and, after a predetermined time, only said second coil is energized, said first switching means being different than said second switching means.
