Abstract
3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid or a derivative thereof is used in the preparation of a medicament for treating retroviral infections and HIV in particular. The 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid or a derivative thereof is also included in a pharmaceutical composition in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and any of vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin C or a combination of two or more thereof.

A method for the treatment of a retrovirus infection comprising the step of administering an effective amount of 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid or a derivative thereof.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising:
- (a) 3-amino-4-hydroxybenzoic acid or derivative thereof;
- (b) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier;
- and
- (c) an additive selected from the group consisting of vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin C, or a mixture thereof.
