Abstract
A particular epitope located within the CD4-binding region of gpl20 of HIV-1, and antibodies specific for the epitope which can inhibit HIV-1 infection of human cells by diverse strains and isolates of the virus, is disclosed. The antibodies are useful for a number of purposes, including diagnosis of HIV-1 infection.
Claims4
A chimeric monoclonal antibody having variable region of rodent origin and a constant region of human origin which binds to a peptide represented by the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO:1 in the CD4-binding region of the gp120 of HIV-1 and inhibits in vitro infection of T cells by HTLV-IIIB.
A chimeric monoclonal antibody having a variable region selected from the group consisting of the variable regions of G3-519 and G3-508 and a constant region of human origin.
