Abstract
A pearlescent composition containing: (a) a dialkyl ether corresponding to formula (I): R1—O—R2 wherein R1 and R2, independently of one another, represent linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl groups having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms; (b) a silicone compound; and (c) an emulsifier selected from the group consisting of alkyl oligoglycosides, alkenyl oligoglycosides, fatty acid-N-alkyl polyhydroxyalkylamides, alkyl ether sulfates, betaines, and mixtures thereof.
Claims14
A pearlescent composition comprising:
- (a) from about 1 to 15% by weight of a dialkyl ether corresponding to formula (I):
- R1—O—R2
- wherein R1 and R2, independently of one another, represent linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl groups having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms;
- (b) from about 1 to20% by weight of a silicone compound;
- and
- (c) from about 65 to 98% by weight of an emulsifier selected from the group consisting of alkyl oligoglycosides, alkenyl oligoglycosides, fatty acid-N-alkyl polyhydroxyalkylamides, alko ether sulfates, betaines, and mixtures thereof, all weights being based on the weight of the composition.
A pearlescent cosmetic composition comprising:
- (a) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of a dialkyl ether;
- (b) from 0.1 to 10% by weight of a silicone compound;
- (c) from 1 to 50% by weight of an emulsifier;
- and
- (d) remainder, water, all weights being based on the total weight of the cosmetic composition.
A process for pearlescing a personal care composition selected from the group consisting of a hair shampoo, a hair lotion, a foam bath, a creme, a lotion or an emollient, the process comprising adding an effective amount of a pearlescent composition to the personal care composition, the pearlescent composition containing:
- (a) from about 1 to 15% by weight of a dialkyl ether corresponding to formula (1):
- R1—O—R2
- wherein R1 and R2, independently of one another, represent linear or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl groups having from 12 to 22 carbon atoms;
- (b) from about 1 to 20% by weight of a silicone compound;
- and
- (c) from about 65 to 95% by weight of an emulsifier selected from the group consisting of an alkyl oligoglycoside or alkenyl oligoglycoside, a fatty acid-N-alkyl polyhydroxyalkylamide, an alkyl ether sulfate, a betaine, and mixtures thereof, all weights being based on the weight of the peariescent composition.
