Abstract
A lithium ion battery electrode formed by the pyrolysis of a silane polymer followed by introducing lithium ions. These electrodes can be used to form batteries with large capacities, low irreversible capacity, high density and good safety behavior.
Claims13
A method of forming an electrode material for a lithium ion battery comprising:
- (A) pyrolyzing a composition comprising a polysilane to form a ceramic material;
- and
- (B) introducing lithium ions into the ceramic material to form an electrode material.
In a method of making a rechargeable lithium ion battery, the improvement comprising making an anode by a process comprising:
- (A) pyrolyzing a composition comprising a polysilane to form a ceramic material;
- and
- (B) introducing lithium ions into the ceramic material to form an anode.
