Abstract
This invention relates to an isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding an amino acid decarboxylase. The invention also relates to the construction of a chimeric gene encoding all or a portion of the amino acid decarboxylase, in sense or antisense orientation, wherein expression of the chimeric gene results in production of altered levels of the amino acid decarboxylase in a transformed host cell.
Claims8
An isolated nucleic acid fragment encoding a lysine decarboxylase having an amino acid sequence identity that is at least 80% when compared, using the Clustal method of alignment, to the amino acid sequence set forth in a member selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:
- 2, SEQ ID NO:
- 4, and SEQ ID NO:
- 6, wherein the amino acid sequence encoded by said isolated nucleic acid fragment has the functional properties of the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 2, SEQ ID NO:
- 4, or SEQ ID NO:
- 6.
