## Abstract

Fatty Acid Synthase polypeptides and polynucleotides and methods for producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for utilising Fatty Acid Synthase polypeptides and polynucleotides in therapy, and diagnostic assays for such.

## Claims

An isolated polynucleotide which comprises the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

An isolated polynucleotide of claim 1 which consists of the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1.

### Claim 3

An isolated polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The isolated polynucleotide of claim 3 which is DNA.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The isolated polynucleotide of claim 3 which is RNA.

### Claim 6

An isolated polynucleotide comprising nucleotides 156 to 7688 of the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1.

### Claim 7

An isolated polynucleotide comprising a polynucleotide sequence which is fully complementary to a nucleotide sequence encoding the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The isolated polynucleotide of claim 7 wherein said polynucleotide sequence is fully complementary to nucleotides 156 to 7688 of the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1.

### Claim 9

An expression system comprising a polynucleotide capable of producing a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

A process for producing a recombinant host cell comprising transforming or transfecting a host cell in vitro with the expression system of claim 9 such that the host cell produces said polypeptide in vitro.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

A recombinant host cell produced by the process of claim 10.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)
