## Abstract

A sewing thread for a leather product composed of fibers attached with a highly water absorbing powdery material on the surface of the fibers, in a ratio of 5 weight % or more based on the weight of the fibers, and a leather product, with excellent water-proof property, prepared by using the same thread.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A sewing thread for a leather product comprising fibers attached with a highly water absorbing powdery material on the surface of the fibers in a ratio of 5 weight % or more based on the weight of the fibers.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The sewing thread for a leather product described in claim 1, wherein the ratio of the highly water absorbing powdery material attached to the surface of the fibers is 5 to 70 weight % based on the weight of the fibers.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The sewing thread for a leather product described in claim 1, wherein a mean particle diameter of the highly water absorbing powdery material is 0.1 to 100 μm.

The sewing thread for a leather product described in claim 1, wherein the highly water absorbing powdery material is a cross-linked acrylic acid polymer.

The sewing thread for a leather product described in claim 1, wherein the fibers are polyester fibers.

The sewing thread for a leather product described in claim 1, wherein the leather product is an artificial leather.
